Study of the Stress Distribution Due to the Effect of Transient Analysis on a Vertical Pressure Vessel and Validation using the Mesh Independence Study

The importance of Pressure Vessel (PV) to industries is one the reasons why design and structural integrity should be fully understood considered when deploring it in under different conditions. such vessels need broadened with a detailed thermal stress due its time-dependent behaviours experienced load. Therefore, this study aimed at investigation transient analysis PV subjected operating condition. used for simulation was designed based on American Society Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler Code (BPVC) 2019 transient-stress (transient structural) using ANSYS software. A complete evaluation temperature, heat flux resulting distribution across vessel estimated four locations within obtained result compared analytically results from appropriate standards. accuracy validated Mesh Independent Study (MIS), Grid Convergence Index (GCI) fractional error between fine grid used. showed that there were temperature locations, these varied distributions or change are according various transients which as load applied PV. simulated maximum principal value close computed percentage 2.65% respect result. analysed (W analysed) 3400 MPa, MIS 3210 MPa numerical approach (WN). GCI 0.073 -0.003 show presented independent solution.
